K2007 presentation STORK S 440-5650-65 EP. Hengelo, 1 Oktober 2007. This machine, which has a clamping force of 4400 kN, reflects a clearly upward trend in the market. The continuing demand for better efficiency and output, and decreased production costs increasingly leads to "Value engineering". This means that products or processes are redesigned to achieve an intrinsically improved situation. In packaging applications, these developments are shaped by the application of multi cavity moulds, integrated automations and 2K applications. The machine on display has been specifically built for this type of process integration. It has been fitted with an extra 2K injection unit directly on top of the main injection unit. However, the application of an additional unit also requires additional reinforcement of the fixed clamping platen, as a second cavity has to be added into the platen. Furthermore, it is an EP version (Extended Platens), which means that the machine has been fitted with extra-large clamping platens for the application of the larger moulds associated with multiple production. Of course, the machine must also be able to produce optimally with single products and smaller moulds placed centrally. At the fair, the machine will be used to produce a 12-litre ornamental plant pot. The mould is manufactured by Van den Brink. The plant pot will be marked with a label using IML technology. The IML and automation will be provided by Pierik Automation. Drukkerij Verstraete has designed a label especially for the fair.
