CDS700 full touch, introduced at the FAKUMA 2009

At the FAKUMA 2009 Stork Plastics Machinery B.V. will introduce the new CDS700 ( Full-Touch ) control system. This new controller is the successor of the CDS600 touch and is equipped with a 19 inch TFT touch screen. Complete operation of the machine is done by means of this new touch screen.

New possibilities
As a specialist in fast cycling injection moulding machines Stork Plastics Machinery B.V. is continuously looking for possible improvements which will increase the ease of operation.
The new Full-Touch control enables a more flexible way of configurating the manual control buttons and gives opening to an improvement of the presentation on the operator panel. The manual control buttons can be arranged in an optimal way. Also the signals to the operator can become better, because all functions can be programmed visualized on screen. CDS700 full touch

A familiar appearance
A 19 inch TFT screen is placed in portrait, i.e. vertical. The upper portion of the screen remains unchanged. The new 19-inch TFT screen is as wide as the current 15 inch screen and the setup pages are identical. On the lower screen area extra buttons are placed to select the main menu pages.

Further down the manual operation buttons are visualized. On the CDS600 4 columns of 8 manual buttons were arranged. The real buttons are now replaced by touch buttons. The touch buttons contain clear pictograms indicating the specific function where they are used for. At the bottom of the screen the start and stop buttons for the main motor are placed.

The new Full-Touch control allows simple positioning of extra buttons for extensions such as 2K injection units. There is enough space for 5 columns of 8 buttons to be placed. In this way the operation of a 2nd injection unit becomes simple and intuitive.

The State of the art
Besides the exterior, the interior of the system has also been renewed. The heart is formed by an embedded PC with an energy saving ATOM 1.6 GHz processor. The speed of the new computer is twice as fast as the previous model. Cooling fans are not needed, because of the low operating temperatures.

The electronic control of the machine is done as before, using the real-time Ethernet field bus at 100Mbit. Naturally the CDS700 is standard equipped with the remote service facility (RMS) via the Internet. As of the FAKUMA 2009 the new CDS700 Full Touch control will be sold standard on all Stork machines.

The FAKUMA
At the FAKUMA Stork Plastics Machinery shows a STORK S+ 2500-1450 machine with hybrid drive and the new CDS700 control. The STORK machines distinguish themselves by their extremely fast and smooth movements at a low energy consumption level. The machine responds accurately and precisely to the settings made in the control system. By default, the machine features digital closed loops that optimal control the movements. The STORK S+ machine is equipped with ECO mode, so energy consumption can be optimized even more.

The machine will be shown within an automated production cell. The installation will produce a 0.6 liter container with a 2 cavity mould and with an in-mold label (IML). The cycle time will be as low as 3.5 seconds. The IML system and automation for the removal and stacking of the products will be supplied by Van den Brink Moulds and Automation (De Harskamp NL).
The FAKUMA fair in Friedrichshafen Germany will held from the 13th till 17th October 2009.

Come visit us at the FAKUMA, in Hall 1 stand 1211.
